What is a veterinary receptionist?
A veterinary receptionist runs the front office of the veterinary clinic and is usually the first member of the staff to greet clients as they arrive with their pets. The receptionist performs record keeping duties, clerical duties and provides miscellaneous support to the veterinarians and patient care team.
What responsibilities do receptionists have?
On a typical day a veterinary receptionist in a clinical practice will:
- Phone reception – answering client inquiries, scheduling appointments, and recording messages for doctors and staff
- Greeting clients – checking patients in, discharging patients, dispensing medications and prescriptions, invoicing
- Inputting data into electronic medical record system
- Receiving client payments – posting and recording payments
- Monitor clinic fax & phone messaging – prescription refill requests, receipt of payment, appointments scheduling, client inquiries
- Client communications – patient updates, appointment reminders, update inquiries
- General office duties – mail, hospital bills, cleaning / organizing reception area

Reason for choosing this field: I have a really strong love for animals and I’ve always wanted to work with them ever since I was little.
What do you like most about South Towne and/or your favorite parts of the day: I love that we are all really passionate about the pets and their owners. My favorite part is getting to see the owners smile when we return their pets to them.
Hobbies/interests/family/pets: I love the beach and doing yoga. I love spending time with my son, my 2 dogs (Sophie & Duke) and cat (Tom). I also love camping and traveling.

Education/Degrees: Regents diploma with advance designation RH Senior High, studied Music Performance for 1 year at MCC
Professional Interests: Owning my own company/becoming GM or CEO of a major company
Reason for choosing this field: I love all animals and love to see the various different breeds and species we see here. Although bad things do happen, it’s the smiles we can put on people’s faces that made me want to work here.
What do you like most about South Towne and/or your favorite parts of the day: The people I work with, they are all friendly, helpful and understanding!
Hobbies/interests/family/pets: 4 dogs total at 2 houses; Rottweiler Molly 9 years old, Maltese mix Bella 3 years old, English Bulldog Lulu 1 years old and a Shih Tzu mix Bentley who is 6 years old. I have one cat, Sammy who is my 16 year old man! I played pool professionally for a good 8-10 years. I am also an overnight grocery manager along with working here.

Reason for choosing this field: I ended up here for the same reason most people in this field have; a love of animals. Now that I’ve been here I can’t imagine doing anything else.
What do you like most about South Towne and/or your favorite parts of the day: South Towne is a family. There isn’t a person here who wouldn’t be there for you.
Hobbies/interests/family/pets: I enjoy spending my days reading in bed with my cat, Finley, and my dog, Zant. I have a brother, but all of my family is in Minnesota, where I’m originally from.

What do you like most about South Towne and/or your favorite parts of the day: Everybody is very friendly and willing to help me. My favorite part of the day is anytime I’m interacting with an animal.
Hobbies/interests/family/pets: Playing with my dogs, listening to music or watching movies.
